With ARGON8 firmware v2.0 we have introduced a set of joystick calibration settings for manually adjusting the behaviour of the joystick. You can find these settings on the 'UI & Controls Settings' screen page or in the Settings section on MODALapp.
If the joystick on your ARGON8M is not 'centring' correctly (e.g. it sends sporadic values when untouched or is too sensitive in its resting position), please increase the 'Centre Calibration' setting value.
If the joystick doesn't respond to appropriate movements around the centre position, please decrease the 'Centre Calibration' setting value.
If an axis of the joystick is not reaching the top modulation / MIDI value, please increase the relevant 'X+ / X- / Y+ / Y- Calibration' setting value.
If an axis has a small usable travel range (e.g. it reaches the top modulation / MIDI value when the joystick axis has only physically moved half way), please decrease the relevant 'X+ / X- / Y+ / Y- Calibration' setting value. Though please note that it is expected that the joystick may have a small 'inactive' area (where physical movements don't generate modulation / MIDI value changes) at the end of each axis, even if the 'X+ / X- / Y+ / Y- Calibration' setting values are set to 0.
If the joystick is not working at all, there may be a number of reasons for this:
- If the 'XYLock' button LED is illuminated in white, this indicates that the joystick is locked and will not respond to any movements. Hold the 'Velo' button and press the 'XYLock' button to unlock the joystick.
- If you are expecting the joystick X+ / X- axes to control the pitch of the internal voice engine, please go to the 'Joystick' screen page and check that the 'Pitchbend Status' parameter is enabled. The joystick pitch bend semitones range can be set using the 'Pitchbend Range' setting found on the 'MIDI Settings' screen page.
- If the modulation matrix joystick assignments aren't working, please go to the 'Joystick' screen page and check the values of the 'X+ / X- / Y+ / Y- Depth' parameters - a value of 0 will result in no joystick modulation for that axis.
- If you are expecting the joystick to send MIDI messages from the MIDI outputs, please go to the 'UI & Controls Settings' screen page and check that the 'Pitchbend Out' and 'Modwheel Out' settings are enabled.
